Open House and Dedication

The open house was held, as previously indicated, on September 14th and 15th. There were approximately 600 people who attended the open house and we believe that was 50% members and 50% non-member of the church. Everyone enjoyed a special spirit there. The opportunity to share the programs of the church in the Wenatchee area was especially well received. Thanks to all who participated working so hard to make it a success.

The dedication of the chapel was held on Sunday evening, September 16th. The Wenatchee River Ward was assigned to set up the folding chairs prior to the meeting.

The chapel and overflow area was filled to capacity by 6:30. As I attended the event, I could feel the closeness of our Heavenly Father and the sweet spirit of the Holy Ghost as President Hunsaker gave the dedicatory prayer. We certainly are blessed to have this new building in our area and particularly to be able to hold our meetings there.

Sacrament meeting for the Wenatchee River Ward will begin at 9:00 a.m. this coming Sunday.

Meandering In & Around The Church

Spent a few minutes meandering into and around the church today. Took a few photographs of the pictures that are yet to be hung around the inside of the building. Also saw stacked chairs and other furniture that had been delivered. The organ bench is in place, light shades in the Relief Society Room are up and other furniture such as tables and chairs are being put into rooms.

Many plants have been planted around the building and there are still more to plant. Lawn is yet to be installed around the sidewalks of the building, while hydro-seeding of the outlying area is yet to happen as well. It is all coming together and will be lovely for the open house.

Landscaping is Happening -- More PhotosView

Today I took some photos of the partially completed landscaping. There are way too many plants for me to count and I am sure this will take a while. Beautiful so far. Enjoy seeing how this is taking shape.

Still to be planted

I really like this.

View of what still needs to be planted.

Not sure what is happening with the grass. Will be interesting to see what will be done.  Enjoy.

Plants and Trees Have Arrived

Yesterday as I  drove past the church property I saw that plants and trees were being unloaded from a large tractor trailer. I drove past this morning and took a few photos. Things will start moving fast today. It is really a lousy time to plant. Good thing there is irrigation watering installed to keep everything soaked. Here are some photos of the plants and trees and what was laid out this morning.

No New Information

I have no new information to post regarding what is happening with the landscaping or other aspects of the building completion. As soon as they are provided to me, I will post them. It might be fun for anyone visiting to look back through the blog and see how much has been done since this project began last year.

Nearing The Completion and Dedication

This week I have no new photographs. The sprinkler system has been tested this week along with installation of additional irrigation pipe. The inside of the church has many small details that are being completed, including touching up of paint, and lighting in rooms. The septic system is being tested as are electrical systems that run the AC and Heat.

Once the outside landscaping is complete and the detailing of projects within the building is done, it will be turned over to the church. As I understand it, the area facilities people will then put various paintings of the Savior in the building, add the materials to the library and do any additional work in preparation for the open house and dedication.

If I am allowed to, I will try and get photographs of the interior and exterior of the building up on this blog before the actual open house.
